PCM’S HYPERFORMANCE H6DI PULLS TWO NEW WOMEN’S WORLD JUMP RECORDS

ORLANDO, FL (September 29, 2016) – During Monday’s Ski Fluid Invitational in Polk City, Florida Nautique athlete Jacinta Carroll set two new pending Jump World Records pulled by the PCM HYPERFORMANCE H6DI powered Ski Nautique 200. It proved to be an historic day in the world of tournament waterskiing, as Carroll flew 194ft (59.2m) followed by a 198ft (60.3m) jump, making her the first female to ever break the 60-meter barrier.

This isn’t the first time Carroll has broken back-to-back world records. At the 2015 Sunset Cup, the tournament debut of PCM and GM Marine Technology’s powerful Direct Injection engines (H5DI and H6DI), she shattered the previous world record three times with jumps of 193ft (58.8m), 193ft (58.9m), and 194ft (59.1m).

“It’s always amazing to come to America and get a chance to jump behind the PCM H6DI engine. I know that every jump I will get a strong consistent pull giving me the best opportunity to fly far,” said Carroll.

In addition to Carroll’s World Records, there were numerous personal bests pulled behind PCM’s HYPERFORMANCE H6DI with industry leading horsepower and torque at last weekend’s Sunset Lakes Fall Classic. The outstanding performance of the H6DI pulled Centurion athlete Alex Laurentano 184ft to tie her Open Women’s National Record, two M4 Jump Records of 180ft and 182ft, a Chilean Junior Women’s Record of 144ft, and a Finnish Open Women’s Record tie of 179ft.

PCM President Mark McKinney stated, “We couldn’t be anymore proud of Jacinta and her accomplishments. The team here at PCM is excited to see the incredible power and torque of our engines taking these athletes to the highest level and making history.”

PLEASURECRAFT ENGINE GROUP SPONSORED TEAM TAKES THIRD IN SOLAR BOAT DESIGN COMPETITION

LITTLE MOUNTAIN, SC (June 29, 2016) – A team of University of South Carolina (USC) mechanical engineers, working with Pleasurecraft Engine Group (PEG), took third place in SOLAR SPLASH®, the World Championship of intercollegiate solar/electric boating, held June 15-19 in Dayton, Ohio.

Since 1994, university teams from across the globe have designed and built prototype solar/electric boats for competition in Solar Splash. Each team’s boat goes through technical inspections followed by five on-the-water competitive events. Points are earned in 7 categories to determine an overall champion. USC’s teams have now earned nine Top 5 finishes including three World Championship titles.

In addition to offering financial support, PEG assisted the USC team through the entire 12-month design process. PEG President Mark McKinney and USC team captain (and new PEG engineer) Carver Buis began by attending a hybrid electric boat show in Fort Lauderdale to learn more about the electric marine world. The most valuable support came from the team’s access to PEG engineers’ inputs and perspectives throughout the entire design process.

“Without the influence of PEG in the solar boat project many design issues would have been overlooked. Due to the experience and guidance PEG provided to the team, we were able to place well in the competition and also take home the award for Most Improved Team,” stated Buis.

McKinney added, “Pleasurecraft is very proud to have helped the USC team earn the Most Improved award and to once again be competitive in this prestigious competition. Working with these students has been a valuable learning experience for everyone involved and we hope to continue participating in this event for many years to come.”

PLEASURECRAFT SPONSORS UNIVERSITY TEAM IN SOLAR BOAT DESIGN COMPETITION

LITTLE MOUNTAIN, SC (March 3, 2016) – Pleasurecraft Engine Group (PEG) is sponsoring a team of University of South Carolina (USC) mechanical engineers as they prepare to enter Solar Splash, the World Championship of intercollegiate solar/electric boating, to be held June 15-19 in Dayton, Ohio.

Since 1994, university teams from across the globe have designed and built prototype solar/electric boats for competition in Solar Splash. Each team’s boat goes through technical inspections followed by five on-the-water competitive events. Points are earned in 7 categories to determine an overall champion. USC’s teams have earned eight top 5 finishes including three World Championship titles.

“Our project coincides with a two-semester long class encompassing the entire design process,” stated Carver Buis, USC team member and PEG intern. “We evaluated last year’s USC team design along with their competitors to identify weak areas in need of improvement. The technical knowledge and design advice, in addition to the financial support, we receive from PEG is invaluable in our quest to bring home a fourth World Championship.”

PEG President Mark McKinney added, “Pleasurecraft is always looking to support our community and when we were approached with this opportunity we knew it was a perfect fit. Fostering the next generation of engineers in our industry while supporting the local university has been an incredible experience that we hope to continue for years to come.”

Direct Injection: Feel the Rhythm

Place your hand on your heart. Seriously, stop reading this and place your hand on your heart.

Do you feel the rhythmic beat of your heart, powerfully pounding blood through your body? Your heart, as small as it may be compared to the rest of your body, is the driving force that powers you through your day, week, and lifetime.

An engine is just like a heart. Though small, compared to the boat it powers, the engine is the most important feature. Without a smooth-running engine, the boat is useless.

At PCM we believe that the engine needs to be of the highest quality and manufactured to last. Just as athletes train their hearts to withstand the most grueling workouts, we design and engineer our engines to stand above the competition. A PCM engine performs without hesitation and is charged with the latest technologies and features that deliver incomparable enjoyment and reliability.

With this in mind, we’ve spent countless hours researching ways to develop the next great engine to power inboard towsport boats. Built on the idea of HYPERFORMANCE; the serious, obsessive — borderline fanatical — approach and philosophy to building an engine that outperforms the competition in every way – our newest class of engines are the industry’s most innovative engines available.

In September of 2015, we launched the H5DI and H6DI engines. These engines feature the only direct injection fuel system in the inboard towsports industry. They were designed to propel – literally and figuratively – watersports enthusiasts beyond the reach of the competition and allow them to soar to new heights.

These engines are set apart from the competition by implementing the next generation technology of Direct Injection. Take a look and you’ll see why we have been the industry leader for so many years.

Direct Injection Technology

Essentially, Direct Injection Technology, provides more power and greater efficiency from smaller displacement engines, meaning a great pull just got even better while costing you less at the pump.  All of this is achieved by:

  • Moving the point where fuel feeds into an engine closer to the point where it ignites, enabling greater combustion efficiency
  • A leaner mixture, so less fuel is required to produce the equivalent horsepower of a conventional, port injection fuel system
  • Higher compression ratios that produce more power
  • A more complete burn of the fuel in the air-fuel mixture
  • Operating at a lower temperature than conventional port injection

In addition to this latest technology, the H5DI and H6DI feature our Catanium® Clean Emission System Gen 2, which reduces harmful emissions and dangerous carbon monoxide to create a cleaner, safer marine environment while optimizing performance. A custom-tuned intake manifold ensures optimal torque while the all-aluminum construction of the block, heads and exhaust system allow for the utilization of an open-loop cooling system. This system is the most effective, reliable, and maintenance-free system in the marine industry and backed by the strongest 5-year buyer protection plan, Hypertection.

Of course, no PCM engine would be complete without all the exclusive features made famous by our earlier generation engines. Like what you see? Are you interested in taking your boating to the next level? Talk to your local dealer to learn how you can start experiencing HYPERFORMANCE.

Remember, it’s important not to forget about your boat’s engine, because just like a strong heart powers some of the greatest athletes, you deserve a strong engine to power your passion!
