PLEASURECRAFT ADOPTS THE HILTON RECREATION AREA ON LAKE MURRAY

LITTLE MOUNTAIN, SC (June 2, 2023) – As part of their philanthropy initiative, Pleasurecraft Engine Group has joined the Keep the Midlands Beautiful Adopt-a-Waterway program. Pleasurecraft specifically adopted the Hilton Recreation Area on Lake Murray in South Carolina and executed their first cleanup on June 2nd.

Eleven Pleasurecraft employees spent the morning cleaning up the Hilton Recreation Area and boat ramp, and will continue to maintain the cleanliness of the park several times a year, including the Lake Murray Cleanup Day each Fall where Keep the Midlands beautiful organizes hundreds of volunteers to clean every park, marina, boat ramp, and island on Lake Murray.

The mission of Keep the Midlands Beautiful is to engage, inspire and educate the Midlands to invest in our community through litter prevention, recycling, and beautification. This organization was founded in 1989 and one of their initiatives is the Adopt-a-Waterway program which began in 1998. Litter, a common source of pollution, threatens the health and beauty of far too many of our treasured lakes, streams and rivers.  The AAW program offers volunteer groups the opportunity to address water-based litter issues in both Richland and Lexington Counties. More information on the Adopt-a-Waterway program can be found at keepthemidlandsbeautiful.org.

Trey Thurman, Vice President of Pleasurecraft stated, “I am proud of our team for the enthusiasm that they have shown in making a difference in our community and for volunteering their time to make our community better. Lake Murray is the home lake for Pleasurecraft and it’s important to us that it remains a clean and safe place for families to get out on the water. We specifically chose the Hilton Recreation Area to adopt because it is the boat ramp and park that many of our employees use on a weekly basis throughout the boating season.”
