GREENVILLE, SC (November 16, 2021) – Pleasurecraft Engine Group was recognized with the 2021 South Carolina Transformation & Operational Excellence Award. The Transformational and Operational Excellence Award is given to a company that can demonstrate to the business community real-world, bottom-line results achieved through the adoption of continuous improvement and/or operational excellence tools and techniques.

The South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) is a private, non-profit group that serves as a proven resource to South Carolina businesses, providing them with a range of innovative strategies and solutions. Each year they present the South Carolina Manufacturing Excellence Awards at their annual Manufacturing Conference and Expo that includes 215 exhibitors and hosts over 3000 attendees each year. Mark McKinney (President, Pleasurecraft), Trey Thurman (Vice President, Pleasurecraft), and John Bolton (Vice President, Velvet Drive) accepted the award from South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster.

Over the year, Pleasurecraft invested a significant amount of resources to improve the overall operational excellence for both the Little Mountain, SC and Liberty, SC facilities. A few of the accomplishments that contributed to Pleasurecraft winning this award included:

  • New Product – Engines, transmissions, and V drive development
  • Procedures – Navigation of supply chain challenges
  • Facility Improvements – Installation of a welding shop, LED lighting throughout the entire facility
  • Culture – Air conditioning throughout the entire facility, remodeled offices and common areas
  • New Technology – Barcoding software technology, new dealer portal, and new phone system

In addition to these improvements, Pleasurecraft showed record growth in sales and profitability, all while continuing to be a preferred employer in South Carolina.

Mark McKinney, President of Pleasurecraft stated, “We are grateful to SCMEP and Governor McMaster for recognizing our company with this prestigious award.
